AI & SeniorCRE Intelligence

How can senior living operators use generative AI to analyze financial and operating variances securely?

Last reviewed

Direct answer

Give the AI reconciled, approved figures rather than raw system exports, limit it to the data the user is already allowed to see, and keep resident-level health information out unless a reviewed agreement and safeguards cover it. Require that every explanation cites the source records it used, and keep the variance explanation a proposal for a person to review, not an approved finding.

Why this happens

A model asked to explain a variance between two systems that disagree will produce a confident explanation of whichever number it read. Governing the inputs first matters more than the model chosen.

Security covers more than encryption: access scoping, logging of prompts and outputs, vendor data-use terms and human sign-off on anything reported. This is general information, not legal or security certification advice.

Hypothetical example: an ai agent asked to schedule staff

  • EHR census

    92

    Includes a bed hold.

  • Accounting census

    90

    Billable residents only.

  • AI agent

    Chooses 92 with high confidence

Confidence reflects the model, not the operator’s authority.

  1. Evidence
  2. Disagreement
  3. Authority
  4. Operator-Controlled Operating Record
  5. Intelligence
  6. Execution

Illustrative figures. Coherence before Intelligence.

The model’s confidence says nothing about which census the operator has approved for staffing.

The governance question

Coherence before Intelligence. AI should reason from an operator-controlled operating record whose authority has already been established by the operator, with execution confined to explicit grants. Model confidence never creates organizational authority.

Evidence → Disagreement → Authority → Operator-Controlled Operating Record → SeniorCRE Intelligence → Execution

What good operating infrastructure should do

  • AI reads governed values, not raw conflicting sources.
  • Unresolved disagreements are visible to the AI and to people.
  • Explicit grants for what AI may read, recommend and execute.
  • Human determination for anything outside approved rules.
  • A record linking each AI recommendation to its governed inputs.

SeniorCRE perspective

SeniorCRE Intelligence is designed to sit downstream of the Operator-Controlled Operating Record: it reasons from numbers whose authority the operator has established and acts only within authority already granted. It never decides which number governs. Status: the Operator-Controlled Operating Record is designed and not yet implemented in any community. Current capability states and production-entry gates are published in the Evidence Record at the Trust Center; nothing here should be read as a production result.
