What it is like to be an entrepreneur visionary
The honest answer: it is one of the most rewarding, humbling, exhausting, faith-testing, character-building things a person can voluntarily do to themselves.
One founder. One mission. Several front doors.
Each entity serves a different stakeholder, but they share one operating philosophy.
The honest answer is this: it is one of the most rewarding, humbling, exhausting, faith-testing, character-building things a person can voluntarily do to themselves. My entrepreneurial journey did not begin in senior housing.
Before the career, there was the formation. I am a graduate of the New Mexico Military Institute — a formation I credit for the structured, compliance-forward discipline that still runs through everything I build — and I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from Stephen F. Austin State University (class of 1989), the foundation of a career-long fluency in institutional communication and capital formation.
In 2021, I launched the Senior Housing Investors Podcast.
Operators, investors, developers, lenders, advisors, and innovators. The podcast was never just about recording conversations. It became a way to listen, learn, test assumptions, and understand where the industry was really going.
Then in 2024, I founded Haven Senior Living Partners . The goal was simple: move from advising on senior housing & care opportunities to investing in and building communities that thrive. Haven Senior Living Partners is focused on values-based investing and deploying equity capital into the acquisition and development of senior housing & care communities.
That work reinforced something I already believed. You cannot separate capital from operations. A beautiful building with poor operations is a problem. A strong operator with weak data is constrained. A great investment thesis without execution discipline is just a story. In senior housing & care, value is created where care, labor, census, revenue, NOI, asset value, and capital decisions all connect.
Faith, family, and the passions that keep me building
Reading, traveling, skiing, mountain biking, and building businesses are my passions — but Eli, Emerson, and my faith are the reasons any of it matters.

If this letter resonated, I would welcome a direct conversation. Founding operators are shaping what SeniorCRE becomes next — and there is still room at the table.
